Have you read the story, The Little Engine That Could? It’s a beloved children’s story of a small train who believed he could do the impossible. Other trains with more power refused the task because they didn’t think they would succeed.

The Little Engine agreed to pull a much larger, heavier train with many cars attached up a hill. As he worked his way to the top, he kept reciting, “I think I can, I think I can, I think I can.” Eventually, The Little Engine reached the top, working, believing, and encouraging himself. What seemed impossible became a possibility because of his belief.

In life, we encounter seasons where we’re unsure we can believe in the impossible. We want to, but we need help with our faith. When we are looking up the face of a steep hill, instead of saying, “I think I can, I think I can,” recall the words of Jesus in Mark 9:23 and say “Everything is possible for the person who believes, everything is possible for the person who believes.”

Challenge yourself to commit one scripture to memory each week. By doing this, you will build your faith like exercise builds muscle. Then, when you see mountains ahead, you will be ready to cross over them with the Word of God as your weapon and nothing will be impossible.
